Description

The Silver House: A Manuscript in Progress is a poignant and thought-provoking contemporary novella that explores the complexities of redemption, rejection, and the illusions of success.

As the protagonist navigates the labyrinthine streets, shadowed alleys, and treacherous marshlands of her world, she is confronted with unsettling truths — about education, privilege, and the unseen forces that shape destinies. Her journey is punctuated by moments of surreal beauty, profound solitude, and a haunting silence that demands introspection.

At once an intimate character study and a sharp critique of systemic inequities, The Silver House: A Manuscript in Progress invites readers to question the nature of happiness, the weight of expectations, and the meaning of resilience. L. C. Atencio’s evocative prose and philosophical depth make this an essential read for those who seek literature that both challenges and inspires.

About the Fine Artist

L. C. Atencio was born and raised in South America with a privileged upbringing, experiencing a rich lifestyle that only approximately 1% of the population ever gets to enjoy. At the onset of his adolescence, at the age of 11, Atencio became critically ill — his skin and eyes turned yellow, his body grew severely weak, and he wasn’t physically capable of attending school. Fearing that he had a contagious disease, Atencio was quarantined in his childhood bedroom for months, where nurses and doctors came on-site in isolation gowns to run tests and administer treatments. Away from his brothers and friends, he spent his time writing a made-up tale to mentally escape his solitude. Throughout his life, he often revisited this tale and made several drafts of it; some were written while he was rich, and some were written later on in his adult life when he was counting pennies, on the brink of homelessness. The book in your hands is the result of one of the final drafts, written when Atencio was far older and no longer living in poverty, after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in the field of Arts and Humanities, and after achieving over 100 successful printed publications to his name in the literary field.

The Business endeavors to provide Products that arrive in good condition and substantially conform to the descriptions presented at the time of purchase. The Business further represents that Products offered for sale through its website are subject to internal review procedures intended to promote accuracy of listing information, product presentation, shipment preparation, and fulfillment integrity. While every reasonable effort is made to ensure the accuracy of product descriptions, photographs, specifications, dimensions, colors, materials, packaging representations, and related content, minor variations may occur due to manufacturing processes, display settings, monitor calibration differences, photography lighting conditions, material availability, supplier revisions, or other operational factors. Such variations shall not constitute a defect, misrepresentation, breach of warranty, or grounds for rescission of a sale. Subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions contained herein, the Business warrants that Products sold through the Site shall be prepared, packaged, and fulfilled in accordance with the Business’s quality-control standards and shipment-preparation procedures. This Warranty is intended to provide assurance that Products undergo internal inspection procedures prior to shipment, are packaged using methods reasonably intended to promote safe transit, are reviewed for fulfillment accuracy before dispatch, are shipped through recognized shipping carriers selected by the Purchaser, and are intended to arrive in substantially the same condition in which they departed the Business’s fulfillment process. These procedures are intended to promote consistency, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction throughout the fulfillment process. The existence of these procedures shall not be construed as creating a guarantee that every Product will be entirely free from minor imperfections, cosmetic variations, or conditions inherent to the manufacturing, framing, packaging, or shipment process. The Business recognizes that many Products require careful handling due to their collectible, artistic, literary, archival, or display-oriented nature. Accordingly, shipment-preparation procedures may include protective packaging materials, reinforced shipping methods, cushioning systems, corner protection, specialty packaging components, or other safeguards deemed appropriate by the Business. Packaging methods may vary depending upon Product dimensions, Product weight, Product fragility, shipment destination, carrier requirements, environmental considerations, and inventory availability. The specific packaging method selected for any shipment shall remain within the sole discretion of the Business. If a Purchaser believes a Product may have experienced a Covered Condition, the Purchaser may contact the Business through the contact methods provided on the Site. Upon receipt of a request for assistance, the Business may request supporting documentation, including, but not limited to, order information, photographs, shipping documentation, packaging photographs, carrier information, and additional supporting evidence. The Business reserves the right to review all information submitted and to determine, in its sole and reasonable discretion, whether a Covered Condition exists. Nothing contained herein shall obligate the Business to provide any particular remedy prior to completion of its review process. If the Business determines that a Covered Condition exists, the Business may, at its sole discretion, elect one or more of the following remedies: replacement of the affected Product, shipment of replacement components, or alternative accommodations deemed appropriate by the Business. The remedy selected by the Business shall constitute the sole and exclusive remedy available under this Warranty. Availability of replacement Products may depend upon inventory levels, manufacturing availability, publication status, edition status, supplier availability, production schedules, and other factors beyond the Business’s control. This Warranty is extended exclusively to the original Purchaser of record and may not be assigned, transferred, sold, conveyed, inherited, pledged, licensed, or otherwise transferred to any third party. Any subsequent owner, recipient, reseller, transferee, heir, beneficiary, or possessor of a Product shall not acquire any rights under this Warranty. This Warranty does not extend to conditions arising from improper handling, misuse, abuse, neglect, unauthorized modification, improper storage, improper display, improper framing by third parties, environmental exposure, water damage, fire, flood, natural disasters, carrier delays, theft, vandalism, accidents, ordinary wear and tear, aging, fading, material deterioration occurring over time, or conditions outside the reasonable control of the Business. This Warranty further does not extend to subjective dissatisfaction regarding personal preference, artistic interpretation, aesthetic opinion, stylistic choices, collector value, investment potential, market appreciation, rarity, future availability, or similar subjective considerations. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Business shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of value, diminution of value, or other commercial damages arising from or related to the purchase, possession, use, display, storage, transportation, or resale of any Product. In no event shall the total liability of the Business exceed the amount actually paid to the Business for the specific Product giving rise to the claim. Purchasers are encouraged to inspect Products promptly upon receipt and to retain original packaging materials, shipping documentation, and order records whenever reasonably possible. The Business may request such materials during a warranty review process to facilitate investigation and resolution. Purchasers are responsible for following all care instructions, handling recommendations, display guidelines, storage recommendations, and usage practices that may accompany a Product. Failure to exercise reasonable care may affect eligibility for warranty consideration. The Business reserves the right to investigate any warranty request, require additional documentation, deny requests that are unsupported by available evidence, and take appropriate action to protect against fraud, abuse, misuse, misrepresentation, or other conduct inconsistent with the purpose of this Warranty. The Business further reserves the right to modify, suspend, discontinue, replace, amend, interpret, or update this Warranty at any time, with or without prior notice, by posting a revised version on the Site. The failure of the Business to enforce any provision of this Warranty shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or of any other provision contained herein.
